5th May 2009 - TDEMI 6G: Ultra-fast Emission Measurements in time-domain
up to 6 GHz The Munich-based manufacturer GAUSS Instruments has introduced the
TDEMI 6G as a new model in its TDEMI product family. The time-domain measurement instrument can be used for emission measurements from 9 kHz up to 6 GHz. With this new model the TDEMI series now covers the complete frequency range required by commercial EMC standards. The measurement time can be reduced by up to factor 4000 compared to traditional RF test receivers.
The reduced measurement time helps to shorten development and test times significantly. In addition to the time savings the system enables measurements of short time disturbances or disturbances that are heavily drifting in frequency, which could hardly be detected with conventional EMI receivers. This improves the quality of the measurement as well. The TDEMI 6G can be equipped with an integrated, low-noise amplifier as an option. Depending on the application an external pre-amplifier may become redundant.
With its frequency range from 9 kHz to 6 GHz the TDEMI 6G covers the measurement range required by the CISPR 22 for measurements of information technology equipment (computers, servers, accessories etc.). The Time-domain Measurement Instrument processes the digital signal in real-time. By the digitalization and the FFT-based transformation into the frequency-domain this signal is processed at several thousand frequency points in parallel. Thereby an emission measurement can be performed up to 4000-times faster than with traditional RF test receivers, depending on the test setup.
The TDEMI series comprises the following models for different frequency ranges:
- TDEMI 30M (9 kHz - 30 MHz)
- TDEMI 1G (9 kHz - 1 GHz)
- TDEMI 3G (9 kHz - 3 GHz)
- TDEMI 6G (9 kHz - 6 GHz)
