10th February 2009 - Interference- and emission-free Data Transmission System for DUT Monitoring during EMC Tests

EMC tests require extremely demanding measurements of emission and immunity. The measurement equipment used to stimulate and monitor the DUT (Device under Test) must meet the same extreme demands.
Many currently marketed analogue transmission lines have serious disadvantages, e.g. high sensitivity to temperature changes, high background noise, high non linearity and high sensitivity of the system to attenuation in the optic cable. The digital transmission systems of the DOtech series have the advantage of freedom from potentials, negligible emission ( see measurement results) and high resistance to electromagnetic fields and interfering currents.

Application Areas
The DOtech product line was developed in the context of the automotive industry for undistorted measurement and transfer of signals under extreme EMC conditions and is now extensively used. But the DOtech product line is good for other industrial applications too, e.g. for precise transfer of voltage readings from temperature probes and strain measurement strips. The DOtech product line includes transmission lines for digital transfer LINBUS and CANBUS with High and Low Speed CAN with 2 and 4 channels, and also the analogue transmission line U53, frequency range DC to 10 MHz.
New Options for ESD and BCI Measurements
The DOtech product line has been extended with two new options. With these options, the transmission lines can now be used for ESD and BCI tests too.
The ESD option supports ESD handling and function tests up to 8 kV (contact) and 15 kV (air) discharges and is available for models K73 (K-Line), LIN26 (LINBUS) and for the CANBUS option of type M . The BCI option permits BCI immunity tests up to 400 mA interfering current and is available for models K73 and LIN26 . Customers already using one of these models can enhance their existing transmission lines with the new options .
Enhancement with the BCI option can be performed on site by the customer.
