Fast Measurement Instrument for Conducted Emission Measurements in the Time Domain

A new version of the time domain measurement instrument TDEMI is now available, designed for conducted emission measurements in the frequency range from 9 kHz to 30 MHz. The already available version from 150 kHz up to 1 GHz (TDEMI 1G) can now be extended in the low frequency range by a new option that supports frequencies down to 9 kHz.

The TDEMI measurement instrument permits emission measurements up to 4000 times faster than normal RF measurement receivers! It does this by using very modern digital converters and by processing the digital signals in real-time. With the help of an FFT-based filter-bank, the signal is processed in parallel at several thousand frequency points.

The TDEMI 30M is specially designed for measuring conducted emissions from 9 kHz to 30 MHz. It allows a quasi-peak measurement in Band B or Band A within about 12 seconds. A complete measurement of Band A, Band B, quasi-peak and average including self-calibration of the TDEMI takes less than 55 s per line. The TDEMI has an option for pre-selection for Band A and control of the network simulation (LISN). The TDEMI 1G, which covers the frequency range 150 kHz to 1 GHz, can be extended with a new option down to 9 kHz.

The TDEMI system is produced by the company GAUSS Instruments, a spin-off from the Technical University Munich. The TDEMI will be presented at the electronica 2008 on the emv-booth, Hall A1, A1.660.
