A new EMC laboratory at the John Deere works in Mannheim went into operation in December 2007. emv GmbH had planned and installed the complete measurement instrumentation and the required software. The tailor-made solution was produced in close cooperation with the customer. Besides the classical regulations for measurements to comlply to standards, there were stringent requirements for automation, for networking the various parts of the system, and for connectivity to existing John Deere systems and tools. Connectivity to CAN Diagnosis Tools
For instance, parameters for measurements of resistance to interference using the EMC software RadiMation can be actively supplied to a CAN vehicle bus via defined Identifiers. The advantage: the developer, who is testing particular modules of the vehicle, can see which field strengths and frequencies bring failures, while using his own standard CAN diagnosis tools. This eliminates tiring visual control of the measurement instruments. The developer can analyze the measurement results in his accustomed environment.
Analogue EUT Monitoring
The sequence of broadband signals from vehicle sensors and vehicle buses can be verified via analogue optic fibers of the DOtech series. The EUT monitoring tool of the RadiMation software can get the signals via a standard oscilloscope and process them. Using defined limits, all significant deviations can be clearly displayed and recorded. Here too, visual control of signals is eliminated, a further considerable help for the test engineer.
Central Control from the RadiCentre
The heart of the system at John Deere is the modular test system RadiCentre from DARE!!. With up to eight plug-in modules it provides flexible control. In accordance with the DARE!! software, the RadiCentre is equipped with chosen control and measurement modules depending on the customer requirements.

The advantage: a fast integrated measurement system with flexible enhancement options with huge cost reduction in comparison with separate solutions. As well as the tried and tested field strength measurement system RadiSense, the RF switch module RadiSwitch and the very fast new power measurement module RadiPower operate at John Deere.
