Spartan: Software for S-Parameter and PIM Measurements from Summitek Instruments

Reliable testing and analysis of RF-Parameters

The test software Spartan from Summitek Instruments is a hardware-independant plattform for the automation and Analysis of RF and Microwave component tests. F-Parameters as well as S-Parameters or PIM (Passive Intermodulation) characteristics including tolerances can be defined and administrated centrally in testing sequences. The measurement results are stored in a data base and can be retrieved by authorized users worldwide. By means of evaluation routines reports and static analysis for the quality control can be generated.

Based on this information users are able to aswere questions such as how many units have been manufactured per manufacturing cell in one shift, how large is the deviation from planned values and if constructive changes of the circuitry effect the characteristics and the quality of the product. Many manufactures are working with self-made solutions in this field. Spartan in contrast is a commercially available software product that helps to preserve internal resources.

The software is a web-based Client-Server-Application. Drivers for most of regular Network Analyzers from Agilent (HP), Anritsu and Rohde & Schwarz are available. Through the high degree of automation, such as identification via barcodes, manual tasks of the testing staff can be minimized. With the help of defined test sequences and the automation of the test it is possible to measure reliable and comparable data worldwide independently from the operator.
